Former Welsh international, Jonny Williams, says he is delighted to be home after signing Gills contract.
The Gills have beaten off strong competition to complete their first new summer signing and it's certainly one that catches the eye, and not just because he was unveiled in Gillingham's shockingly stylish pink third kit.
Jonny Williams, who boasts Premier League, European Championship and World Cup experience, joined the ME7 revolution on Wednesday and he is sure to make a huge impact as the Gills go hunting for promotion.
The midfield-schemer, 29, who has appeared for teams such as Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Charlton as well as being part of Wales' Euro 2016, 2020 squads and the 2022 World Cup team spoke shortly after inking his deal.
"I will give my all for Gillingham Football Club," promised Williams, who has ambitions of returning the club back to Sky Bet League One.
"What the Chairman has done since January has been great and I am well aware of the impact he has made here. I want to be part of that journey.
"I will do everything I can to help the club win and progress as a club on and off the pitch. I am going to give everything. I have been promoted from the Championship and League One but never League Two, it's something I will strive to do with Gillingham. If I could get the set, that would be amazing."
Williams, affectionately known as 'Joniesta', has made 33 appearances for the Welsh squad, but the attack-minded player was actually born in Kent.
"It feels like I'm back home at Gillingham," he said. "I'm really excited. This is a club with a lot of potential and being born in Kent, I am delighted to be home.
"I've always looked out for Gillingham results and I always thought one day I will be playing for Gillingham and here we are today.
"I feel like I have a lot to give and whenever I go out on that pitch, home and away, I will give everything.
"I am excited to get going and the main aim for this club is to get out of the league. It's a big club for league two and I think everyone is pulling in the right direction and wants to win games and I'm excited by that because I want to win as well."
