Gills complete permanent signing of Josh Andrews

Striker Josh Andrews completes permanent move to Priestfield.

Gillingham have captured the signing of Birmingham City striker Josh Andrews on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old, who has spent the first half of the current season on loan with Accrington Stanley, came through the academy system at St. Andrew's but made his professional debut while on loan with Harrogate Town in February 2021.

He spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan with Rochdale, then under the management of current Gills Assistant Coach Robbie Stockdale, finding the net five times in 22 outings before returning to his parent club.

Another loan stint, this time at Doncaster, was followed up with his spell at the Wham Stadium where he scored six times in 22 appearances.

On signing his contract, Josh said: "I am delighted, I am looking forward to getting started. You want to join a club with a plan, this club clearly has that and I'm on board.

"I can't wait. I will give 100% every time I pull on the shirt; the fans can expect a target man that is going to take care of the ball, always try and be available for the team to get them up the pitch and when crosses are delivered into the box I will be on the end of them."
