Ehmer | "We need to play our own game"

Max Ehmer keen for Gills to play their own game in FA Cup encounter against Premier League opposition.

Premier League side Sheffield United roll into town on Saturday and Max Ehmer says that Gillingham players are looking to cause a huge FA Cup upset in front of a sold-out Priestfield Stadium.

The Blades will be overwhelming favourites going into this exciting third-round tie, but Gills' experienced defender believes that with a strong game plan and the right mentality, anything is possible.

"We are confident going into the game," said Ehmer, addressing the media. "We are going into the game having had back-to-back wins, that is important no matter what league you are in. It is a massive plus for us and we will be taking great confidence into this FA Cup game.

"When a big team comes here we have to make it horrible for them to visit us. We are going with a game plan and it is 11 versus 11, but we will have to be at our best to get a result.

"The game is a sell-out and we are really excited and we want to give the fans something to shout about in the game. We go into every game thinking we can win and at the end of the day it is just 11 against 11.

"We are the underdogs and people will not expect us to win, so that will give us a boost. We are not addressing it as a free hit and we will try and get a result.

"We have to show Sheffield United respect, but we also need to play our own game. We need to stick to our game plan. If we could beat them then that achievement will be right up there in what I have achieved in my Gillingham career. I've had many great moments here but beating a Premier League team at home would have to go straight towards the top of the list."
