Preview | AFC Wimbledon v Gillingham

Two play-off chasing sides lock horns on Tuesday as Gills make the journey to Plough Lane.

The Gills make a short trip around the M25 to face Play-Off rivals AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane on Tuesday night.

Having rescued a point versus a stubborn Tranmere Rovers side at Priestfield last weekend, Stephen Clemence’s men head to Wimbledon knowing that three points on the road could prove vital heading into the closing stages of the league season.

Team News:

Connor Mahoney is pushing for a start after an impressive second-half display at home to Tranmere. George Lapslie returned to the matchday squad at the weekend and is in contention for a place in the starting XI too.

The game comes too soon for Josh Andrews. Dom Jefferies remains out of action.

As for AFC Wimbledon they have no fresh or injury concerns ahead of the game.

Manager Comments:

Stephen Clemence: “I don’t think we have been too bad away from home since Christmas. We haven’t won every game, of course, we have lost three.

“We have had some really good results on the road, too. I was disappointed to lose (2-0) at Barrow last week. You don’t want to lose to someone who is a rival and challenging for those play-off spots but it happened.

"We have got to make sure that we’re in with a shout with four or five games to go.”

Johnnie Jackson: “They’re sitting in that last play-off place at the moment. It was a close game with them, away from home. We were on the wrong end of it and I felt we should have got more from it that night.

“We’ll be looking to put that right, knowing that we’re up against tough opposition. They’re in good form and they’ve got good players. We can’t come off of it from Saturday - that needs to be our level now in these remaining games, because they’re huge for us.”

“Steve has done really well since he went in there in November."

Previous Meeting:

The Dons came to Priestfield in the reverse fixture of the current campaign for a late Kick-Off on a chilly Tuesday evening back in November 2023.

A late Conor Masterson goal gave Gills a 1-0 win on the night.
