Gillingham manager Mark Bonner spoke with the media following the 2-0 defeat at Colchester United on Boxing Day.
A goal in either half gave Danny Cowley's side maximum points on a frustrating afternoon for the visitors, and the Gills boss conceded that Colchester more than deserved the points.
Match Reaction...
Not good enough. I think that it was a really disappointing level from us in every aspect. They deserved it, 100%. They deserved the result, they deserved the game, so we're frustrated. More than that really, because it's a good week, then a bad week.
That's the inconsistencies of the team at the moment, and we had a really good number of supporters here to watch the game who will go home angry, and they should do.
We were lacking in too many areas from the start of the game where they got right on top, as the fast-starting team that they are, and we didn't match their intensity too often throughout the game.
When we had opportunities to get control of the game, which we had periods where we did have control of the ball, and then we had opportunities to get control of the ball, but the number of misplaced passes and unforced errors was way way too high.
They made more of their attempts and chances on goal than we did. We didn't make enough of them.
The supporters...
We had brilliant support today. We know that with the close games that we have got we will have great support. We always do. They come out in really good numbers home and away and get behind the team. They have done it again today.
