The club is delighted to announce that George Penfield has been named our "Community Hero" for 2025.
George, now 80, has been involved at the club for more than 55 years volunteering as a kit man, groundsman, tea bar assistant, stadium cleaner, beer delivery man, a social and travel club committee member, and helping the stewarding team. He is still involved at ME7, helping out Brad Haywood in the kit room.
All club staff gathered in the players' lounge recently to applaud George who was presented with a bottle of champagne and a special EFL pennant. He was then presented to the crowd prior to kick-off against Morecambe on Saturday.
Speaking to the staff, George said: "Thank You very much for this, I love the club and I am really honoured. The club is a huge part of my life and always will be."
We congratulate George and we thank him for his tireless efforts throughout his association with Gillingham Football Club.
