Morris | "We are disappointed not to win"

Morris

Glenn Morris spoke with the media after he produced a sensational late save to ensure that Gillingham left Carlisle with a hard-fought point in their goalless draw at Brunton Park.

The goalkeeper had to react quickly to claw Stephen Wearne's header around the post, denying the hosts what could have been a last-gasp winning goal. Morris spoke about that header and the work he had to do throughout the fixture.

Both sides had good opportunities to win the game, with Elliott Nevitt striking the crossbar in the first half and having an extremely strong penalty appeal waved away with Gills controlling large parts of the game. Morris was frustrated that the visitors could not come away with all three points but acknowledged that Brunton Park is a difficult place to visit despite Carlisle's league position.

There were 402 Gillingham fans in attendance on Saturday, and the goalkeeper was beyond thankful for the support they gave the team throughout the game, stating that it made a positive impact.

His crucial save of Stephen Wearne's header...

It was just one of those where it was crossed in, and he has headed it back across you, and you're hoping that you can get something on it and turn it around the post, and luckily I managed to do that.

I didn't really feel like I was getting tested too much. The boys in front were blocking and heading everything away when it did come this way. If I am there to make a save, then you are doing your job as well, so it's always nice.

Discussing the game...

The boys put in a great shift. The last five minutes looked a bit stretched, and we looked a bit leggy. Other than that, we were in complete control of the game. You're just hoping for something to fall to someone. In the first half, we hit the bar, and it looked like it has gone in, but it has not been our luck.

We're disappointed not to have won the game, but this is a tricky place to come to. I've been in football for a long time, and I don't think I've won many games here. It's a good, solid point, and it keeps us a bit further away from the danger zone, which we don't want to look at, but we have to. We have to be realistic.

The travelling support...

It's amazing. It's a long old way, and I don't know what time they left this morning, but we have to give them great credit because it did help. You could hear them, and they were pushing us on, and it was brilliant. That's what we need.

It's great commitment. We cannot thank them enough. That's unbelievable. For 400 of them to come to Carlisle, it's unheard of, and I have done many.
