Gillingham v Morecambe

MEMS Priestfield Stadium

Saturday March 1, 2025

Sky Bet League Two

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Conor Masterson (hamstring) and Jonny Williams could return to the squad for the visit of Morecambe. Euan Williams is also close to a return but this game will likely come too soon for him.

Ethan Coleman (calf) is a doubt. Asher Agbinone (hamstring), Marcus Wyllie and Josh Andrews (knee) are all likely to be missing.

As for Morecambe, manager Derek Adams has suggested he could make changes to his XI following last week's 2-0 defeat at Walsall.

Manager Comments:

John Coleman - “We are desperate for a win on Saturday, there’s no doubt about that.

“It’s a massive game and there were a lot of words spoken on Wednesday with the players, some really good dialogue, and we have to realise that the threat of relegation is there and we don’t want to be drawn into that.

"But we have to be aware that if we don’t pick up results, we will be directly in there – that is the harsh reality of football.”

Derek Adams - "We’ve played Fleetwood and Accrington and beaten them both, who are teams around about us and we should have beaten Newport away from home, so we’re happy with our performances; we have to obviously take our chances and win the games when we’re on top."

Previous Meetings:

The clubs have only met on 13 previous occasions with Gills winning eight of those games and Morecambe just the one, that coming in October 2011.

The Shrimpers have never won at MEMS Priestfield Stadium. Gillingham will be going for their fourth consecutive victory over the Lancashire club.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw a 1-0 win for Gills with George Lapslie getting the winner.
