MORECAMBE V GILLINGHAM

The Mazuma Mobile Stadium

Sky Bet League 2

Saturday August 17, 2024

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Bradley Dack will not be involved at the weekend. The midfielder rejoined the club on Thursday but is a few weeks away from first-team consideration.

Conor Masterson (foot) will be assessed up until the last moment, but Euan Williams will definitely sit out due to suspension.

Ethan Coleman, Elliott Nevitt and Josh Andrews are major doubts. Tim Dieng (hamstring) is also unlikely to make the journey.

As for Morecambe, former Gills left-back David Tutonda is likely to start. The Shrimps have no fresh injury or suspension concerns.

Manager Comments:

Derek Adams“We have got a lot of new faces but we have worked hard in pre-season and produced good performances in the games against Blackburn and Burton Albion.

“We looked a bit nervous on Saturday at times and we will be looking to get things right at home this weekend.”

Mark Bonner – “We’ll try and be really positive to chase the game, to start as well as we did last week, to try to score first, but be responsive and positive if it doesn’t go our way to try and put ourselves in a winning position. That’s the team we want to be, whether we’re here or on the road.”

Previous Meetings:

The clubs last met in a Sky Bet League 2 encounter earlier in the year at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium. Gills prevailed 3-2 thanks to goals from Oli Hawkins, Tim Dieng and Connor Mahoney.

Prior to that the teams had met on 11 occasions. The Gills have won six of those ties, with Morecambe having only ever won one game between the sides, that coming in October 2011.
