Sam Gale has signed for National League south side Chelmsford City on a one-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old, who played in a number of the club's pre-season friendlies, has previously enjoyed loan stints at Hastings and Sheppey United.
Gale, who can operate as a centre-back and in defensive midfield, could make his Chelmsford debut this weekend at home to Hampton and Richmond.
Sam will have a familiar face for company with Ike Orji having joined the club following his release from Gills earlier in the year.
