MARTIN'S MESSAGE

Martin's Message

Today our youth and development squads and young pros have completed their ninth training session.

Today’s session would have been the hardest training session of their young lives. A four mile run, three sets of terracing, a punishing sit up and press up routine followed by a tough step up calf raising circuit. It really is tough mentally and physically and all of these young men have done magnificent to finish and complete the task.

All the players now have a month on their own and have been given the latest body fat percentages and body weights and their target time for the road run for their return in a month’s time.

It’s tough but as we all know the potential rewards are life changing and quite incredible for these talented young people. The option was to give them last month off and a comfy, cushy two months dossing around or it was to push them closer and closer to the first team squad.

Darren Hare added:

They have shown a very positive attitude and I think the team spirit after the nine sessions was for everyone to see and they have reached a level of fitness they can easily maintain.

I am proud of them all.
