Gillingham FC proud to show their support for Kick it Out initiative
The Community Trust recently ran a Design a T-Shirt competition to support the Kick it Out message. We received hundreds of entries from children all over Kent and after some lengthy discussions, two winners were decided upon to form the final design for the T-shirt:
Year 6 and below = Myles Watson from St Margaret’s CE Junior School
Year 7 to Year 11 = Karis Miller from Rainham Mark Grammar School
The T-shirt was worn by our subs at our game against Port Vale and Karis and Myles were presented with their winning designs on the pitch before the kick-off.
The Community Team have also visited Karis and Myles at their schools, where they were presented with their t-shirts in front of their class mates and teachers before a short presentation to the school about Kick it Out and Respect.
Additional schools were also visited including Featherby Junior School and Twydall Primary School to help spread the message and good work that is carried out by Kick it Out.
Children were spoken to about the importance of respecting each other and their surroundings and the affect that discrimination and exclusion in the classroom can have.
Community Coach Jack Knighton said: ‘It was great to meet so many youngsters and spread the important message of Kick it Out. It’s important to highlight that we are all different and there’s nothing wrong with that and people shouldn’t be excluded for these differences.’
