FEATHERBY RETAIN HTSO CROWN

Featherby Junior School retain the half-time shoot-out crown after victory over St Margaret’s at Troy Town COE Primary School.

Last Sunday we were pleased to welcome Featherby Junior School and St Margaret’s at Troy Town to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium to take part in the Final of the popular Lawtech Half-Time Shoot-Out competition.

The players were allowed seven seconds to score a goal from the edge of the penalty area by either dribbling the ball forward or taking on the goalkeeper, or by simply firing a shot and going for glory.

As the minutes of the first half-ticked down you could see the excitement and nerves growing as the players prepared to enter the pitch and after a quick reminder of the rules the teams were ready. Once the Gills and Millwall players had left the pitch the players made their way to the Rainham End for their warm-up.

The teams lined up on the edge of the D in front of a packed crowd and both schools successfully slotted home their first efforts. St Margaret’s were the first to falter as they were denied the back of the net with their second and third penalties and with Featherby scoring both, it was 3-1 at the start of the fourth round.

Featherby knew if they scored their fourth they would clinch the title but they missed the opportunity and gave St Margaret’s the chance to get back in the tie, which they did. Meaning it was 3-2 going in to the fifth round.

This time though Featherby made sure, calmly placing the ball in to the back of the goal and securing the title for the third consecutive year. On hand to present both teams with their trophy and medals were first team players Aaron Morris and Bradley Garmston.

Congratulations to Featherby Junior School, worthy champions again and commiserations to St Margaret’s who were commendable runners-up.

Thank you to all the teams who entered and for making it a very exciting competition and thank you also to our sponsors, Lawtech who have been fantastic supporters the last two seasons.
