Defender looks ahead to the trip to Crawley in Sky Bet League 2.
Gillingham Football Club sit proudly on top of the Sky Bet League Two table after a remarkable unbeaten start to the campaign.
The Priestfield faithful might be singing ‘we are top of the league’ but Cheye Alexander won’t be looking at the standings until the final whistle of the final game.
After a trio of 1-0 wins from the opening three games, the Gills are the only side to have picked up maximum points. Alexander, however, insists that nothing has been achieved yet.
“We don’t want to look at the league table,” revealed the defender. “We won’t look at the league table until the very end. Hopefully when we do look at it we will be sitting where we are right now.
“We want to come in and work hard and win the next game. That will always be the goal throughout the season.
“We can compete with everyone and anyone. You go into every season hoping and wanting to win every game, so to win three on the bounce with three clean sheets, it’s perfect.
“As a team, when we did interviews at the backend of last season, we said we needed to take our form into the next season, and we have done that.
“It’s only three games, so we need to keep putting in the performances we have been putting in.
“We will go into the Crawley match this weekend looking to put our mark on the game and play our way, if we do then we will be fine and will come away with the victory."
